Poetry - Millennials

Millennials

Even as our fathers
And the fathers before them
held our hands and proclaim,
so do we the same this day to
our children, The New Generation,
Our "hopes for the future".

On them we pin
As our fathers
And the fathers before did,
All hopes
All dreams
All aspirations.

On them we bequeath,
As our fathers
And the fathers before them did,
All of the world's problems
All of the world's sorrows.
All of the world's pain.

And soon, some day,
They too
will grasp the hands of their little ones
and bestow upon them,
As their fathers
And the fathers before them did,

Hopes for a "better tomorrow",
Hopes for a "brighter future",
Hopes to chase and cling on to.
